Analysis Strategies



Before developing any system, the project team must have a clear idea about what they are going to create and how it will bring change to the organization. Here, in case of developing a new innovating website for a car dealer in a town, project team need to perform some essential requirement analysis strategies (i.e., Business Process Automation (BPA), Business Process Improvement (BPI) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR)) which helps to give the clear vision of the system can be developed.

Business Process Automation (BPA) helps to make the company more efficient by giving better support with the new system but make no changes in business process. Problem Analysis is a most commonly used technique deals with identifying problems with current system and solutions for the system to be developed. This is usually done by interacting directly with the users and managers. Root Cause Analysis is another technique only focuses on problem rather than solutions. Usually, this process done by prioritizing all the list of problems and identifying symptoms by tracing each back to its root causes.

Business Process Improvement (BPI) focuses on improvement in business process by improving efficiency and effectiveness by doing right things in a right way with the current system. Duration Analysis is an activity used to analyze the amount of time it takes to perform each process by comparing with the amount of time it takes to complete overall process and develop process integration (is the process of integrating all individual steps) and parallelization (is the process of performing all individual steps at the same time). Activity-Based Costing focuses on the cost associated with each functional steps or processes irrespective of time to identify the expensive processes and concentrate on efforts to improve them. Informal Benchmarking is a process of studying competitor’s product by playing a role of customer for the competitor to improve the performance of own company.

Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is the process of making fundamental changes in business processes with respect to the new ideas and technology. It always focuses on developing new ideas and new ways to do the things in business organization. Outcome Analysis is focus on what does the customer really want and at the same time what the organization could provide value to the customer with the outcomes. Technology Analysis is done by listing out interesting essential technologies and identifying the ways to apply these technologies to the business process by future benefits keep in mind. Activity Elimination is as name suggests is to identifying the organizational functionality and its effects on company by eliminating each activity in business process. Here in force-fit exercise, analyst must eliminate each activity to test all possibilities.
